Hi friends,

Whether you’re planning a date night, a family outing, or simply looking for something new to experience, we’ve gathered ideas that turn everyday moments into something special. We hope this inspires you to step outside, support local events, and enjoy everything our communities have to offer this season.

Happy February and Happy Valentine’s Day! ❤️

Warmly,
Suzanne & Maddie
🏡 Market Snapshot:
A Slower Winter, A Thoughtful Moment
Based on a recent CNBC housing report, winter storms across the country have temporarily slowed buyer activity, with mortgage applications dipping as severe weather kept many would-be buyers off the roads. While interest rates have eased slightly, February is shaping up to be more of a pause-and-plan season than a rush.
Here’s the key breakdown of activity:

🏠 Purchase loan applications dropped about 14% week-over-week, though they remain slightly higher than a year ago.

🔁 Refinance applications declined about 5%, even as many borrowers continue to look for opportunities to lower their rates.

📊 The average 30-year fixed mortgage rate has eased slightly, dipping just over 6%.
With fewer people rushing right now, this season creates space to explore communities, attend local events, and have thoughtful conversations, setting the stage for smart moves as spring approaches.

Central Oregon Pride:
Winter Olympics Energy at Home ❄️🏔️
As the 2026 Winter Olympics unfold in Italy, Central Oregon has even more reason to celebrate winter at home. Oregon athletes like Hunter Hess, a Bend native who grew up skiing at Mount Bachelor, are competing on the world stage, alongside fellow Oregonians Jacqueline Wiles, Sean FitzSimons, and Alessandro Barbieri. Their journeys are proof that big dreams often start on small, local slopes.
That same spark of inspiration can be felt right here at Bend WinterFest on February 13–15. With ice sculptures, fire pits, live music, and classic après-ski vibes. WinterFest isn’t just a celebration it’s where a love for winter begins. Whether you’re watching with friends, bringing the kids, or just soaking in the energy downtown, moments like these are often the first step toward dreaming a little bigger, maybe even all the way to the Olympics.

Look Up This February:
A Rare Planetary Parade ✨🌌
February brings a special reason to look up at the night sky. A rare planetary alignment often called a planet parade will be visible this month, with Venus, Mars, Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus, and Neptune lining up across the sky on Saturday, Feb. 28. While not all planets will be equally bright, several will be visible to the naked eye, making this one of the most exciting stargazing moments of the season.
Clear winter skies make Central Oregon an ideal place to enjoy it, whether you’re stepping outside after dinner, planning a quiet date night, or introducing kids to the magic of the night sky. Events like this remind us that some of the best moments at home don’t require tickets just a warm jacket and a little curiosity.
